Not Again!

I found a moth in my office this morning. Actually, Oscar the cat found the moth. This is my second moth encounter. The first time was at my old house, where I had all of my lovely yarn out on display in my office. Bad idea. Eventually I noticed a thriving community of moths living in my office. After much panic I went to the store, got those vacuum-seal bags, and moved all of the yarn, in the bags, into the freezer. I swore that from then on, every time I bought yarn I would immediately store it in a vacuum bag and put it in the freezer. Well, then we moved to a new house, I never noticed any moth damage (yet) in all of my old yarn, and I got more relaxed about my rules. I admit I have a major weakness for my yarn. I want to look at it and touch it. I want it on display so that my creative juices can flow. So gradually it was brought back out on shelves and voila: moths. Well, one moth, so far. But you know, it's like what they say about cockroaches and lies: For every one you see...

So now the floor of my office is covered in yarn and vacuum bags, which I guess is perfectly fine since we are moving in a couple of weeks anyway and it needed to be packed up. I seriously wonder how yarn shops keep moths out of their yarns. I would love to know. I forget everything I have if I can't see it. I've heard that moth balls don't really work well, and neither do little pieces of cedar. Maybe I'll ask on Ravelry.
