Rainy days are good for working

Here is a peek at what I'm working on today:

The first image is a swatch using Rowan 'Calmer' worked with a size 7 needle.

The second image is a swatch using the same yarn that has been split, using one of its two plies and knit on a size 6 needle.

For the particular project I'm working on, I think I will use the split yarn, although I may go up to a size 7 needle. I want it to be a very open, almost cobweb-like effect. I am enjoying using this yarn. It is a cotton/microfiber blend, and the microfiber adds a lot of stretch and give, while also making the cotton lighter and less dense. This yarn has been reviewed on 'Knitter's Review' for anyone who may be interested. Coincidentally, KnitPicks has just introduced a new yarn that seems from the description to be very similar to this one. It is called 'Comfy' and I'm very eager to try it out. In fact, KnitPicks has just launched all of their new spring colors, and they are really beautiful and sophisticated.

Oscar doesn't like being left out of a photo shoot.

That stitch makes a beautiful pattern. It is easier to see with both plies, but I agree with you that the single ply swatch looks a lot more like spring. Very pretty!
