'Tis the Season
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. We had quite a busy holiday weekend, between Thanksgiving day at my parents' house and Thanksgiving eve at Monty's parents' house. We also celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary. I must say it seems like it has been longer than that. Life before we were together seems like another lifetime completely; one that's far in the distance. Also, Monty's brother got married, so we had the rehearsal dinner and wedding to attend. AND, we got our Christmas tree put up and decorated. We went artificial several years ago, after a post-Christmas nightmare with taking off the lights. The tree was dried out and had turned completely thorny, and poor Monty's hands and arms were covered with scratches and red spots. After that, we got a pre-lit tree and haven't looked back. I love the way real trees smell, but the convenience of artificial is really a worthwhile tradeoff in my opinion. So, our tree is stark white and doesn't even pretend to look real. I figured I should embrace the artificiality and go for a super-stylized version. It has dark brown, gold, pale blue and teal ornaments. Here is a photo:

It is really much prettier in real life, with the sparkly decorations and the pretty twinkle-light glow. Here is my favorite ornament. It's not the most elaborate or most expensive, but I just adore these little frosted pine cones.
We had a nice time decorating the tree. We put on Christmas music and afterwards I made some peppermint hot chocolate to reward ourselves for the effort. Hot chocolate because it finally got chilly here!! But I think it's supposed to warm up again tomorrow. Then cool off again. Hopefully. We're also working on the Christmas shopping. I'm trying to just knock it out early so that we can enjoy our December and not have to worry about the crazy holiday crowds and getting trampled to death - literally; did you hear about that?! Horrible and unbelievable.
I have been knitting a little and have finished a project, but I can't show you because it is going to be a gift. As for original pattern projects, well, as you can see that has been on the back burner for a while. Maybe if things slow down a little (who am I kidding?) I will be able to get back into it. I haven't knitted anything baby-related. Yet. I suppose I should. How odd for a knitter to not be working on a project for her own baby! I've bought a lot of cute clothes, though. Maybe as the time gets closer I'll start looking for patterns. Anyway, I'm off to my new pre-natal yoga class; have a nice Monday evening.
